The error message that flashed on my screen read as --- "Registry is corrupt error code = 0X3e7"
With a gleam hope, I rebooted the computer but again I got the same error message. I was furious as it had hardly been a couple of months since I had installed Windows 7 on my computer.
Cause
As mentioned in the error message above, the problem lies with the registry. When I researched about the issue I got to know that such issues may occur in any of the following conditions -
- Issue with drivers
- Virus attack
- Software application conflict
Resolution
Manual replacement of the Windows Registry file using the Windows 7 setup CD can resolve the issue. However, you must take proper caution in editing the registry, as any mistake can lead to worse circumstances. In case, modification of registry does not help, you should format the hard disk and reinstall the operating system. Formatting would lead to deletion of your valuable data. In such circumstances, you should take help of professional hard drive recovery software. In my case, the resolution method mentioned above was not helpful. So I had to use a third-party recovery tool.
A hard drive data retrieval software recovers all your data lost due to formatting. You get to recover all your important emails, audio/video files, databases, office documents, etc. One such software is Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery. I tried this software personally and it worked a treat for me. Moreover, the software supports Windows 7, XP, Vista, 2003 and 2000.
